What We're Looking For

We're seeking a Cost Accountant who can effectively manage our financial operations and job costs. This is the first Accountant role and it's vital for our growing company. The position requires someone who can oversee current accounting functions while also growing systems and processes in accordance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and highly organized. We need someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can implement scalable accounting/financial systems. This position will report directly to leadership and serve as a key member of our administrative team, helping to build the foundation for our company's continued growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Build systems and processes to provide accurate and up-to-date job costs at the factory and field

  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

  • Identify areas of continuous improvement for accounting systems and processes

  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management

  • Work with an outside accounting firm to provide information necessary for the completion of tax filings

  • Perform general accounting duties as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

  • 3+ years of accounting or finance experience

  • Lives in the Boston metro area and can work in the Andover office with a flexible schedule

  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial reporting

  • Proficiency with Excel

  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, MRP/ERP systems, etc.) and implementation of an ERP is preferred

  • Familiarity with construction, manufacturing, or startup environments is strongly preferred

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to wear multiple hats
