Founder’s Office – People team

TLDR

Build and define people operations from scratch at Lyric, creating a unique infrastructure that supports a fully distributed team while integrating AI to streamline processes.

About the Company

Why We Built Lyric: Supply chains are more critical and complex than ever. Every day, large enterprises navigate trillions of possible decisions that could impact the bottom line. Powerful algorithms and AI can address these problems, yet most organizations struggle to leverage supply chain AI at scale. The current SCM technologies are either rigid, limited-scope point solutions or custom solutions built in-house, which demand immense expertise and investment.

That is…until now.

Enter Lyric: Lyric is an enterprise AI platform built specifically for supply chains, offering the best of both worlds:

  • Out-of-the-box AI solutions for optimizing networks, allocating inventory, scheduling routes, planning fulfillment capacity, promising orders, propagating demand, building predictions, analyzing scenarios, and more, plus

  • A platform-first approach that empowers both business and technical users with end-to-end product composability, leveraging no-code tools, their own code, or even forking our code to build and refine supply chain decision intelligence

With Lyric, enterprises no longer have to choose between flexibility and speed, they get both.

The Mission: We’re building a new era in supply chain with the team best equipped to lead it. With over 20 years at the intersection of supply chain and algorithms, we developed a deep conviction that global supply chains needed something like Lyric. Since our inception in December 2021, that conviction has been validated time and time again.

Today, a growing number of Fortune 500 companies, including Smurfit WestRock, Estée Lauder, Coca-Cola, Nike, and more, are innovating on their own terms with Lyric. We can’t wait to see what our customers, both current and future, are empowered to build with us next. Come build with us!

Location: Chennai/Bengaluru (Remote)
Team: People
Reports to: CPO (with close partnership across Product, Engineering, Business)

How this role came to be

We started looking for a Global People Ops Lead. The more we dug into what we actually needed, the more we realized the traditional hire didn't fit.

We're not looking for someone to step into a system that already exists. We don't have one. We're looking for someone to build it - the way a founder would.

This is the first people operations hire at Lyric. That means the person who joins will define what good looks like here: how we onboard, how we offboard, how we communicate across time zones, how we make decisions, and increasingly, how we let AI take on the operational load so our team can focus on the things that actually require humans.

What we're building toward

Lyric is fully distributed across three continents. We operate on trust, async communication, and shared context — not oversight and meetings. Our ambitions are large. Our team is tight. And the internal infrastructure that holds everything together needs to be built intentionally.

We believe a lot of what people ops traditionally owns - onboarding logistics, documentation, process management can be reimagined. Things like: what if new hires could largely onboard themselves through well-designed async Notion docs, with human touchpoints only where they truly matter? What if the person in this role spent less time executing repeatable tasks and more time designing the systems that eventually run themselves?

That's the opportunity here. Build it well enough that AI can carry the operational weight over time, while you keep raising the ceiling.

What you'll own from day one

You'll be starting from scratch in most of these areas - that's the job.

Design and build Lyric’s people operations foundations - onboarding and offboarding, benefits, time off, and compliance and the documentation that makes these systems legible and reliable for a fully distributed team. This isn’t incremental optimization. It’s making thoughtful decisions about how these systems should exist, then building them from scratch.

Company-wide communication infrastructure - Shape how information moves at Lyric — from Slack norms to All Hands formats to async update rhythms. The goal is a team that feels informed and aligned without being in constant meetings.

Our Notion workspace - We use Notion as our operating brain. You'll own it: the structure, the upkeep, the ongoing decisions about what lives where and why.

Take stock of the tools we use today, what’s missing, and what no longer serves us. Develop clear recommendations, align with key stakeholders, and drive decisions through to implementation.

People data and insight - Build the dashboards and reporting that help us understand how our team is doing — not just headcount and tenure, but things like decision velocity, onboarding effectiveness, and team sustainability.

AI and automation adoption - This is the part most people ops professionals haven't touched yet. You will. Find where AI can do the work, build the workflows, and gradually shift operational weight off humans and onto systems you've designed.

Who we're looking for

The market is full of people who joined a company after the systems were built and kept them running. That's not this.

We’re looking for someone who has either built systems from the ground up or stepped into existing ones and fundamentally rethought them. Someone who can assess what’s there, decide what’s worth keeping, what needs to change, and then rebuild with intention — even when there’s no clear playbook to follow.

You're probably someone who:

  • Thinks of themselves as a builder first. You don't wait for systems to exist; you create them.

  • Has real experience with AI tools — not in a "I've used ChatGPT" way, but in a "I've built workflows with it that actually saved people time" way.

  • Understands people deeply. You know that good systems make people feel seen and supported, not processed.

  • Is drawn to the challenge of making complexity feel simple.

  • Can write clearly. In an async, distributed company, your written voice is your presence.

Cares about getting it right, not just getting it done.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the center of how Lyric scales.

Done well, it makes the People organization feel lighter, faster, and more focused.
Done poorly, it becomes a drag on every part of the company.

We are hiring this role because we believe great people systems are built, not patched.

Lyric builds an enterprise AI platform tailored for supply chains, providing both ready-to-use AI solutions and a flexible, platform-first approach to enhance business decision intelligence. Our technology empowers organizations to streamline complex supply chain operations and optimize planning processes, setting them apart in a competitive market.
