Food & Beverage Steward - Restaurant

As a Restaurant Steward at Britannic Explorer, a Belmond Train, you will be an essential part of the team delivering world-class hospitality in a unique, luxury setting. You will ensure an exceptional dining experience for every guest, providing attentive service with precision and care. Primary Responsibilities Include: 

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Restaurant Steward to join our seasonal team, providing exceptional service to our guests from March to November 2026.

• Preparing the dining car for service, including table setup, silver service preparation, and mise en place. 

• Providing high-quality food service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring guests enjoy a seamless and memorable dining experience. 

• Presenting menus, explaining daily specials, and offering knowledgeable recommendations on dishes and onboard offerings. 

• Identifying, communicating, and accommodating guest allergies and dietary requirements, ensuring all meals are served safely and accurately. 

• Serving meals with attention to detail and refinement, following Belmond service standards. 

• Maintaining a clean, organized, and beautifully presented dining environment, including resetting tables and supporting general housekeeping of the restaurant area. 

• Coordinating with the kitchen team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of dishes. 

• Assisting with general onboard hospitality duties, including greeting guests, escorting them to their seats, and supporting operational departments as required. 

Requirements

What You Bring: 

• Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK. 

• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role within restaurant or luxury hospitality service. 

• Strong understanding of table service, food presentation standards, and fine-dining etiquette. 

• Foundational knowledge of food, wine, and pairing principles, with the ability to make informed recommendations to enhance the guest dining experience. 

• A hospitality qualification is an advantage. 

• Understanding of COSHH and safe handling of cleaning products. 

• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-end hospitality environment.
