FOIA Specialist

OCT Consulting is a business management and technology consulting firm that supports Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

OCT currently has an opening for a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist to work with our federal client in Washington, DC. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating timely responses to FOIA/Privacy Act requests and Congressional inquiries.
  • Conducting "deep dives" into systems like PRISM and ECFS to retrieve all relevant contract documents.
  • Reviewing thousands of contract files to correctly identify and propose redactions for proprietary, sensitive, or personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Using the Secure Release system to process and address FOIA backlogs.
  • Alerting Government personnel to potentially controversial requests that may damage the Agency's reputation.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of documented experience in federal contracting positions.
    • In lieu of a degree: 10 years of experience in federal procurement.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Proven ability to interpret and apply the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and federal procurement regulations.
  • Clearance Requirements: Public Trust.
  • Location: 100% On-site in Washington, DC.
  • Experience managing procurement-sensitive, law enforcement-sensitive, and other secure information preferred.

Salary Range: $115,000- $145,000 yearly, commensurate with experience, education, etc.
