Flight Test Pilot / Operator
TLDR
Take Counter-UAS systems into the field for testing, driving rapid iterations and enhancements while ensuring compliance with safety protocols in challenging outdoor environments.
About Us
STARK is a new kind of defence technology company revolutionizing the way autonomous systems are deployed across multiple domains. We design, develop and manufacture high performance unmanned systems that are software-defined, mass-scalable, and cost effective. This provides our operators with a decisive edge in highly contested environments.
We’re focused on delivering deployable, high-performance systems—not future promises. In a time of rising threats, STARK is bolstering the technological edge of NATO Allies and their Partners to deter aggression and defend Europe—today.
Your mission
Take our Counter-UAS systems out of the lab and into the field—where they either work or they don’t.
As a Flight Test Operator / Engineer, you will plan and execute flight test campaigns, operate systems in realistic environments, and translate field performance into actionable engineering feedback. You will own significant parts of the test lifecycle while working closely with engineering to rapidly iterate and improve system performance.
This role is for someone experienced enough to operate independently, but still driven to build, test, and improve new technology at speed. Someone who champions a robust safety culture and CRM mindset while maintaining steadfast compliance with all testing protocols and procedures.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute flight test campaigns for UAS and Counter-UAS systems
Operate unmanned systems during trials, including mission setup, execution, and post-flight analysis
Support integration and validation of sensors, payloads, and countermeasure systems
Develop and refine test procedures, checklists, and safety protocols
Collect, analyze, and communicate test data to engineering teams with clear recommendations
Troubleshoot technical issues across hardware and software in field conditions
Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers to drive rapid iteration
Support customer demonstrations and operational deployments when required
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in UAS operations, flight testing, or field engineering (defence, aerospace, or RC)
Proven ability to operate independently in test or field environments
Strong understanding of flight operations, safety procedures, and airspace regulations (EASA or equivalent)
Valid drone operator certification A1/A2/A3, STS 1 & STS 2 (or will to achieve quickly)
Hands-on experience with system testing, integration, or validation
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under time pressure
Comfortable working in demanding outdoor and field environments (long test days, variable conditions)
Willingness to travel frequently for testing and deployments
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Experience with RF systems, EO/IR payloads, or electronic warfare is a strong plus
Military background would be a plus
Aviation background like PPL, CPL etc. would be a plus
Proficiency in English. Fluency in German will be considered an advantage.
Eligibility for security clearance
If you´re interested in building the future of European Defence with us, and you see yourself reflected on the description above, please send us your CV in English. We´re looking forward to meeting you!
