  • Direct daily interactions with the Assistant Director of Fleet Maintenance and Shop Managers, promoting safety and service excellence.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment utilization.
  • Analyze equipment data to anticipate needs and recommend replacements.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for maintenance and inventory.
  • Ensure timely project scheduling and accurate reporting by Shop Managers.
  • Mentor staff and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Participate in the hiring process to select the best talent.
  • Provide coaching and conduct performance assessments for direct reports.
  • Stay current with industry knowledge and maintain confidentiality.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of fleet management experience, with a high school diploma and technical training in a related field.
  • Experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and safety policies.
  • Strong project management skills and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning additional software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Valid driver's license; Class A or B CDL preferred.
  • Must be available 24/7 for emergency calls.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work under stress and in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • On-call availability for emergency situations.
