Financial Counselor (Radiology) | Permanent WFH

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Counselor with strong expertise in Preservice financial counseling and insurance verification. This role focuses on guiding patients through their financial responsibilities, including insurance coverage, copays, deductibles, and preauthorization requirements, while maintaining empathy, professionalism, and accuracy in every interaction.

You’ll handle high-volume benefit verification, cost estimation, and outbound patient and insurance calls in a fast-paced environment. Your work directly supports a positive patient experience and the organization’s revenue cycle performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and verify insurance eligibility and benefits for all scheduled patients, ensuring accuracy in coverage details, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
• Generate 100 to 150 financial estimates per day, ensuring accuracy in CPT codes and procedure costs.
• Contact insurance companies promptly to confirm benefits, preauthorization requirements, and coordination of benefits.
• Communicate with patients to discuss financial responsibilities, including out-of-pocket estimates, copays, and high-balance collections (over $1,000).
• Proactively collect payments or establish payment plans in accordance with company policy.
• Identify and review bad debt or default accounts, escalating per protocol.
• Maintain proficiency across insurance portals to retrieve and verify benefits efficiently.
• Collaborate with the Financial Team Lead, Front-End Revenue Cycle Manager, and center staff to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Maintain accuracy and urgency in managing multiple verifications and patient accounts daily.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards at all times.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare or revenue cycle role, including insurance verification, charge entry, payment posting, or patient collections.
• Strong understanding of insurance concepts such as coinsurance, deductibles, copays, preauthorizations, and coordination of benefits.
• Proven experience handling high-volume outbound calls and fast-paced workflows.
• Proficiency with insurance verification portals and billing systems.
• Prior experience in preservice financial counseling or front-end revenue cycle management.
• Familiarity with EHR or billing platforms and CPT/ICD coding fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to simplify complex billing details for patients.
• Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing competing deadlines with accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; empathetic and patient-centered communicator.
• Amenable to work during U.S. business working hours.

• Internet: Wired connection with at least 50 Mbps download speed, plus a backup connection (e.g., mobile hotspot or prepaid Wi-Fi)
