About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will be both a strategic leader and hands‑on contributor, overseeing all aspects of the global accounting function at Digital.ai. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of the Digital.ai financial reporting, compliance, and control environment while leading a high‑performing team. Primary responsibilities will  include managing the full monthly and annual close, overseeing consolidations across multiple international entities, ensuring adherence to US GAAP, leading external audit and tax processes, and driving continuous improvement across accounting operations. This person will partner closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Procurement, FP&A, and cross‑functional leaders throughout the organization. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small but mighty accounting team in a fast‑paced, PE‑backed, technology‑driven environment focused on process optimization.

The ideal candidate would be a seasoned and hands‑on accounting leader with deep technical knowledge of US GAAP, experience working in international and multi‑entity environments, and a proven ability to lead, mentor, and elevate an accounting team. You will have significant experience managing full close cycles, external audit and tax engagements, developing strong controls and processes within a growing organization. Experience in SaaS/software accounting and a PE‑backed environment is essential. You will be highly proactive, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.

What you will do:

  • Lead and own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely global reporting under US GAAP.
  • Oversee and approve account reconciliations, journal entries, consolidation adjustments, and accounting schedules prepared by the team.
  • Manage global consolidations across multiple international entities, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • Prepare and review higher‑level corporate journal entries, balance sheet schedules, and management reporting support.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Procurement to ensure completeness and accuracy across all subledgers.
  • Lead external audit and tax processes, including preparation of support and direct engagement with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Maintain, strengthen, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across all entities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve efficiency within the close cycle.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting team members, supporting a culture of growth, accountability, and excellence.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with global department leaders to support initiatives, process improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Execute on special projects, including system implementations, integration of new entities, and financial readiness for PE‑backed scaling requirements.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience, with several years in a senior, supervisory, or controller‑level role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP and multi‑entity consolidations.
  • International accounting experience required, with hands‑on involvement in global consolidations and intercompany processes.
  • Experience working in a private‑equity–backed environment required, including exposure to PE reporting, controls, and scaling expectations.
  • Experience in the SaaS or software industry strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing external audit and tax processes and communicating directly with third‑party providers.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong Excel skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to operate with flexibility in a changing environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships across finance and operations.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, semi-remote environment.
