OPPORTUNITY

The financial analyst will report to the Manager of Finance, Real Estate Finance. The individual will be responsible for maintaining up to date financial records, handling day to day matters and reporting for Fengate’s Real Estate income producing properties (IPP) portfolios. This role will have the opportunity to interact closely with the Finance, Property Management, Asset Management, and Accounts Payable.

 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and genuinely curious; that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize and work under timelines. The individual is detail and process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work; and has a strong foundation accounting and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the IPP funds with full cycle day-to-day accounting which includes preparation of journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliation, HST filings, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements for internal management and investors.
  • Assist with any year end audit requests for all IPP funds.
  • Liaison with AP closely to organize, code, and submit vendor invoices for payment in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate timely funding of debt to ensure cash management for respective portfolio meets current period costs.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvements across different areas of scope.
  • Assist in the maintenance and compliance of master workbooks and take initiative to assist the team to streamline tasks.
  • Submit monthly compliance reporting to banking partners in accordance with loan agreements.
  • Conduct financial viability assessments of prospective tenants to support leasing decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and analytical procedures as requested by management

Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree completed in accounting or finance is required
  • Further education and/or working towards accreditations, enrollment in CPA program with proven progression through the program
  • Minimum of one year in public or corporate accounting experience required
  • Knowledge of ASPE or other generally accepted accounting principles is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Genuinely curious with a desire to understand key metrics and drivers
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive nature, team player, desire to deliver highest and best results
  • Ability to form collaborative working relationships and foster great culture
