The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Financial Accountant to join our team on a 5 month maximum term contract. This role calls for an individual with strong assets experience, a positive disposition and exceptional business acumen. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that the financial accounting, control, statutory and regulatory reporting is completed accurately and in timely manner.

A day on the job will see you:

  • Support month-end processes to ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare month-end postings and accruals supported by audit-ready documentation.
  • Ensure timely, meaningful, and accurate preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and optimisation of the Fixed Asset Register and related processes.
  • Manage lease accounting and maintain the accuracy of data within Nomos One leasing software.
  • Record and reconcile investments, including term deposits and managed funds.
  • Prepare monthly BAS and Payroll Tax statements and annual FBT returns.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and notes to the financial statements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to manage interim and year-end audit deliverables.
  • Ensure the reporting and general ledger integrity of the Technology One finance system.
  • Prepare financial statements and capital project data for quarterly and annual Treasury submissions.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • CA/CPA qualification (or working towards).
  • Well-developed, broad experience with business and accounting systems in a large ERP environment.
  • Experience with Technology One finance systems would be highly regarded.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge/experience in Government Accounting and Treasury Instructions preferred.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and support change initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and control workload.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to establish business relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
  • Audit experience in Big 4 or second tier firms highly desirable.
