🔍 What we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to provide maternity cover, supporting the full spectrum of Finance and Operations activities at Whereby, including overseeing month-end processes, managing AP and providing additional support on projects. This role covers all areas of finance, and as an integral part of our team you’ll also have the opportunity to expand your skill set beyond your core responsibilities to explore other areas of finance and operations through diverse projects and cross-departmental collaborations.

⚒️ Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Accounting
Ownership of the entire month end process ensuring closure in a timely manner, including booking of transactions and journals, as well as preparation of monthly management accounts including balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities
Creation and delivery of financial reporting including investor reporting
Identify and implement process improvements, continuously enhancing operational efficiency.
Finance Operations
Ownership of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring efficient cash flow and effective treasury management
Management of the monthly payroll process for multiple entities
Generation of cash flow forecasts for liquidity planning
Oversee and manage the Accounts Receivable function, ensuring accurate invoicing, collection, and reconciliation of payments
Identify and implement process improvements, continuously enhancing operational efficiency
Audit, VAT and Compliance
Liaise with external auditor and external accounts support staff for the timely completion of annual audit and approval of financial statements, including acting as the primary point for contact for audit queries
Preparation of periodic VAT returns ensuring compliance with regulations
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
Forecasting and Analytics
Ownership of cost control initiatives such as monthly variance analysis to identify trends and opportunities for efficiency improvements to support strategic decision making
Assist the Finance & Operations Lead in analysis, business planning and forecasting
Collaborate with other teams to support financial planning and budgeting processes.
Your previous experience
3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Fully or partially qualified accountant
Solid understanding of accounting principles and IFRS
Experienced in using accounting software (Xero preferred)
Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills (vlookups, pivot tables, charts, querys etc)
Experience in a dynamic environment of startups/scale ups in the B2B/SaaS sector is a plus
