About the Role

The Field Engineer is responsible for providing highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. The role is base on-site with one of our key clients. The role will, at least initially, cover mornings at one client and afternoons at another, both in Hamilton City, but this may change at any point in the future.

**Please note: Due to the security requirements of our customers, this role is only available to New Zealand Citizens and/or Permanent Residents having lived in NZ for a minimum of 5 consecutive years **

What You’ll Do:

Some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Onsite support across a number of clients (varying locations) – valid NZ driver’s license and your own vehicle may be required.
  • Serving as the company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
  • Building and supporting end-user devices (PCs, laptops, thin clients, printers, mobiles, tablets).
  • Diagnosing faults / troubleshooting / problem solving.
  • Windows desktop and server and Network support.
  • Building productive working relationships across a variety of colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • May include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking.
  • Onboarding/Offboarding users including account creation/disable in AD and move the account in the right OU, migrate mailbox from on-prem exchange to exchange online, assign license etc.
  • Create and manage Guest users account in Entra admin centre.
  • Create and manage distribution lists, user mail boxes and shared mailboxes in online/on-prem exchange and control delegates.
  • Create/support Teams sites in the SharePoint workspaces (If needed) and access control.
  • Support for basic office 365 applications like Outlook, Teams, One note, One drive etc. 
  • Build/wipe and maintain device life cycle by using Intune autopilot or via USB stick if needed.
  • Install applications manually or by adding the user in the right security group and assign license.
  • Support for mobile phones including creation of apple account, installing applications and maintain asset sheet. 
  • Support Papercut printing system.
  • Deskside support including monitors, docking station, monitor arms etc.
  • Support Teams meeting rooms.
  • General support for the walk-ins (if needed). 

What You’ll Bring:

To be successful in this role you will ideally have had experience in a similar role, with a wide range of general IT skills. You will demonstrate excellent problem solving and communication skills. You’ll need to be a self-starter, with good organisation skills and attention to detail. You should generally bring:

  • 2+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Experience with installation, diagnoses and repair of pc systems, end user devices and software (e.g. laptops, desktops, tables, Intune, O365, current Windows Operating Systems)
  • Working familiarity with server and networking equipment
  • Ability to work on assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organisational goals.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate user needs into a technical solution.
  • Excellent customer relationship building and management skills.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels.
