E-SPACE
E-SPACE

FEM Engineer

TLDR

Join a team focused on innovative space-powered IoT solutions, tackling the structural integrity challenges of high-performance mechanisms and assemblies with advanced engineering methods.

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!   E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of space-powered Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are fundamentally changing the design, economics, manufacturing, coverage limitations and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.   By building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system—with a unique antenna design, highly sustainable spacecraft system and low-cost, small portable end-user devices—we can extend global satellite coverage, capacity and connectivity beyond legacy space services to provide a new kind of IoT platform that lets users sense, track, connect and act on information gathered, anywhere.   We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to saving space, protecting our planet and turning connectivity into actionable intelligence. What you will do:
  • Design finite element models (FEM), including meshing strategies, boundary conditions, load cases, and material models.

  • Perform FEM analyses (static, modal, dynamic) on parts, sub-assemblies, and full products, justifying assumptions, safety factors, and acceptance criteria.

  • Interpret, analyze, and document FEM simulation results to identify design limitations  and propose mechanical design updates.

  • Contribute to material and manufacturing process selection, in line with mechanical and environmental constraints.

  • Prepare, execute, and interpret mechanical and environmental tests (static load tests, vibration, shock, thermal, TVAC where applicable), defining load cases, instrumentation (strain gauges, sensors), and test configurations, and analyzing test data to ensure correlation between analysis and test results.

What you bring:
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Materials.

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in finite element analysis in an industrial environment.

  • Proficiency with at least one FEA software package (Ansys, Abaqus, Nastran, Patran, HyperMesh, Comsol).

  • Strong fundamentals in materials, structural dynamics, and vibrations.

  • Experience with rotating machinery structural analysis (bearings, rotors, balancing).

  • Ability to write clear, structured technical documentation (analysis reports, test correlation reports).

  • Experience with analysis–test correlation and post-processing of experimental data.

  • Familiarity with environmental testing (vibration, shock, thermal, TVAC).

Bonus points:
  • Thermal, thermo-mechanical analysis capabilities is a strong plus

  • Scripting and data analysis skills (e.g., Python).

  • Previous experience in aerospace, space, or other regulated industries.

While we welcome candidates with global experience, please note that English is the language we conduct our business in, and application submissions will need to be in English or both English and French to be reviewed by our global team.
