Family & Family Violence Counsellor

• Based in Ringwood, on the lands of the Wurundjeri, Boon Wurrung & Bunurong Peoples
• Part Time (0.6 FTE) – Fixed Term Contract until November 2026, with potential for extension (Monday & Tuesday required working days)
• $51.23 – $54.39 per hour + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

At our Family Relationship Centre, we provide specialist support that helps parents and family members make decisions together, reduce conflict, and keep children’s wellbeing at the heart of every conversation.
Through flexible, online and in‑person services, we offer information, guidance, and conflict‑resolution support that empowers families to move forward with dignity, clarity, and respect.

Your role, your impact
As a Family & Family Violence Counsellor, you will:

• Deliver therapeutic assessments and counselling to individuals, children, young people, and parents/carers to support recovery from abuse, trauma, family violence, and loss.
• Provide therapeutic counselling and support to victim survivors of family violence, as well as young people who use violence.
• Conduct specialised trauma assessments and collaboratively develop tailored treatment plans.
• Use the MARAM framework to ensure risk and safety are continuously assessed and reviewed.
• Facilitate safe, inclusive, and respectful engagement that empowers consumers to participate in decisions impacting their lives.
• Promote relational healing and connection between children/young people and their parent/carer through trauma‑ and developmentally‑informed approaches.
• Deliver culturally sensitive support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTIQ+ communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) consumers.
• Contribute to workforce capacity building through training and workshops.
• Work in partnership with other professionals to provide a coordinated, holistic response to client needs.

Who we’re looking for
You're a compassionate, skilled clinician with:

• Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work or a related discipline (and eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body).
• Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to victim/survivors of family violence and those affected by complex trauma.
• Sound knowledge of the impact of trauma, attachment disruption and neurobiology on development and behaviour.
• Ability to prioritise the voices of children and young people within their family or care contexts.
• Strong intersectional practice lens and experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and collaborative skills.
• Current driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
