The Facility Service Technician plays a key role in ensuring a clean, functional, and safe environment for all staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities Outdoor Responsibilities Perform routine grounds maintenance, including clearing debris, minor landscaping, exterior cleaning, and upkeep of walkways and common outdoor areas. Inspect and maintain outdoor building systems such as lighting, signage, doors, gates, and exterior fixtures. Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting walkways, storm cleanup, or heat-related equipment checks (depending on location). Conduct exterior safety checks for hazards, structural concerns, and facility compliance. Indoor / General Facility Responsibilities Perform basic to intermediate repairs on facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC support tasks. Conduct routine building inspections to identify issues and ensure equipment is functioning properly. Address work orders and service tickets in a timely manner. Assist with preventive maintenance, including filter changes, equipment lubrication, and calibration checks. Support minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general building upkeep. Maintain clean and orderly mechanical rooms, storage areas, and workspaces. Coordinate with vendors or contractors as needed for specialized repairs or installations. Assist with moving furniture, equipment setups, and general facility support tasks. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, building services, or a related trade. Ability to work extensively outdoors in varying weather conditions. Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to operate common maintenance equipment and hand tools safely. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Experience in commercial, industrial, or campus-style facility environments. Familiarity with CMMS or digital work order systems. Certifications such as HVAC helper/tech, electrical training, or general maintenance certifications. OSHA 10 or other safety training. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
