The Facilities Manager will lead and manage the facilities department for a complex site comprising a primary abattoir and retail operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all site services and utilities, including HVAC systems, chillers, steam boilers, effluent treatment plants, and other critical infrastructure.     • Lead, coach, and develop a team of facilities engineers and effluent plant operators.
    • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilities & Utilities Management
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance of site utilities including HVAC, chillers, steam boilers, compressed air systems, and water treatment.
    • Ensure optimal performance and reliability of all critical systems supporting production and retail operations.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Act as the accountable person for site compliance with statutory regulations such as LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and Pressure Systems Safety Regulations.
    • Management and coordination of PPM tasks (Shires)
    • Maintain robust documentation and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives
    • Drive projects and initiatives to reduce energy consumption, improve waste management, and support sustainability goals.
    • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting
    • Develop and deliver weekly and monthly reports on facilities performance, compliance, and sustainability metrics.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment with business objectives.

Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Health & Safety teams to ensure seamless coordination for maintenance, compliance, and service delivery. Promote proactive communication to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

Act as the primary point of contact for all service and utilities-related escalations, including HVAC, chillers, steam boilers, compressed air systems, and effluent treatment. Ensure timely resolution by engaging relevant internal teams and external contractors when necessary.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise in facilities management within a food manufacturing or red meat industry environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, steam boilers, pressure systems, and effluent treatment plants.
  • Proven experience in compliance management (LOLER, pressure systems, environmental regulations).
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills; ability to manage KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in industrial settings.
  • Relevant engineering or facilities management qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred).
