Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and shut down extrusion equipment producing high data rate cable components, including dielectric and jacket materials.
  • Load raw materials, configure tooling, and adjust process parameters (temperature profiles, line speed, pressure, concentricity) to meet product specifications.
  • Monitor extrusion processes to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and material performance in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
  • Perform inprocess inspections and measurements using appropriate gauges, micrometers, laser measurement systems, and continuity or spark testers.
  • Document process parameters, production results, and quality data in manufacturing execution systems (MES) or production logs.
  • Troubleshoot process deviations, material issues, and equipment malfunctions; make realtime adjustments to maintain yield and minimize scrap.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment; escalate complex mechanical or electrical issues to Maintenance or Engineering.
  • Follow all safety, housekeeping, and environmental procedures, including lockout/tagout and material handling requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams during new product introductions, trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
 
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of handson extrusion experience, preferably in wire, cable, tubing, or polymer processing environments.
  • Working knowledge of thermoplastic materials commonly used in highperformance cable applications (e.g., PE, FEP, PTFE, PVC, TPU).
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and process specifications.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and conducting inprocess inspections.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as required by production demand.
  • Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred.
