Requirements

Responsible for monitoring the production line, ensuring that the pipe progresses smoothly along the line, diagnosing and problem solving initial issues and alerting the Setter to more complex issues. 

  • Assist the Setter in the strip, cleaning and start up of the production line, including threading the line 

  • Ensure smooth flow of material into the line by monitoring and loading new material at the right time 

  • Monitor flow of material along production line, doing first line problem solving to keep line running smoothly 

  • Monitor quality of pipe, reporting any issues to Setter 

  • Ensure pipe cut to correct lengths and loaded into autoclave baskets 

  • Set up and run the rewinder, ensure product shrink wrapped and taken through to storage area, and regrind/cut up any waste 

  • To work within guidelines and maintain a safe and tidy working environment 

  • To cover for colleagues and support the wider team as needed 

  SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • The ability/skill to undertake the basic operation of the production line 

  • The ability/skill to be able to learn additional operating procedures, such as Coiler Operation, Material Identification, Gillard operation  

  • Numeracy and literacy sufficient to ensure the smooth running of the line, including measuring materials and quality requirements 

  • An understanding of production quality requirements, and the ability to develop this knowledge over time 

  • Verbal communication skills to be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and managers across the department to ensure continuing smooth operation of machinery. 

  • Is able to take responsibility for day-to-day processes on the production line from start to finish, and to use own judgement within guidelines and with support 

  • Problem solving skills to undertake trouble shooting on the line, with support from senior colleagues where needed 

  • The ability to follow procedures, working constructive both within a team and independently 

  • Compliance to all health and safety processes and procedures at all times on site.
