AI overview

Join a vital Global Export Compliance team focusing on operational compliance aspects, including entity classification and restricted party screening, while maintaining audit readiness.

Who You’ll Work With

This role is a vital part of the Global Export Compliance team, focusing on the daily operational aspects of export compliance for Arista Networks, Inc. You will work closely with the team to ensure strict adherence to U.S. and international export control regulations, primarily focusing on entity classification, restricted party screening, detailed record-keeping and self assessments.

What You’ll Do

1. Entity Classifications & License Determination

  • Customer Database Review: Review and analyze existing and newly added customer data to determine the correct entity type (e.g., government, military, commercial, academic).
  • End-User/End-Use Assessment: Utilize entity type data to support comprehensive end-user and end-use reviews, specifically assessing the need for export licenses.
  • Encryption Regulation Focus: Apply knowledge of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) concerning encryption items, specifically determining eligibility for the License Exception ENC (Encryption Commodities and Software) or the need for an Encryption Licensing Arrangement (ELA) or other relevant global licenses.
  • Escalation: Serve as the first line of review for entity classification and self assessment issues, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the lead analyst and/or the Senior Global Export Compliance Manager for final determination.

2. Restricted Party Screening (RPS)

  • Daily Screening Review: Review daily screening results generated by the e2open Trade express screening tool.
  • Match Resolution: Collaborate with the lead analyst to investigate and resolve potential matches against government-published restricted parties lists (e.g., BIS Entity List, OFAC SDN List, DDTC Debarred List).
  • Investigation & Escalation: Conduct thorough investigations into potential matches, ensuring timely resolution in line with internal protocols. Escalate confirmed or high-risk matches for further review and decision-making.
  • Process Maintenance: Update and maintain detailed work instructions (WIs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect changes in regulatory requirements or internal processes related to RPS.

3. Record Keeping & Audit Readiness

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on the performance of the Distribution Sites to ensure all required trade documentation is collected and maintained.
  • Audit-Ready Maintenance: Maintain audit-ready records in accordance with U.S. export regulations (15 CFR Part 762) and other applicable local country regulations.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Review transactional documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, AES filings) for accuracy and completeness on an as-needed basis to ensure compliance integrity.

4. Reporting & Program Support

  • Self-Assessment Support: Support the Global Trade Compliance program framework by assisting in monitoring and reporting on worldwide compliance self-assessments of business activities as assigned.
  • Compliance Measurement: Contribute to measuring compliance with internal policies and procedures designed to ensure adherence to export compliance controls and licensing requirements.
  • Audit Trail Preservation: Maintain all records and supporting documentation associated with compliance reviews and assessments to preserve a clear and robust audit trail.

In addition to technical expertise, the successful Export Compliance Analyst will possess the following interpersonal and behavioral skills:

  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Given the critical nature of compliance, a meticulous approach is essential for classifying entities, reviewing documents, and resolving restricted party screenings without error.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: The ability to dissect complex regulatory language (like the EAR) and apply it to real-world business scenarios, often involving ambiguous or new technologies.
  • Effective Communication: Clear, concise, and professional communication is needed to interact with internal stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, Logistics) and external government agencies. Must be able to translate complex compliance requirements into understandable action items.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Must be able to integrate smoothly into the Global Export Compliance team, sharing knowledge, assisting with workload peaks, and maintaining consistency across the program.
  • Adaptability & Regulatory Awareness: The export control landscape is constantly changing. The analyst must demonstrate a proactive approach to learning about regulatory updates (e.g., changes to the Entity List or encryption controls) and adapting internal processes accordingly.
  • High Integrity & Professionalism: Maintaining the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality is paramount when handling sensitive trade information and enforcement-related data.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in export compliance, trade compliance, or international logistics, preferably within the technology or networking industry.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid foundational understanding of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including classification, licensing exceptions (especially ENC), and screening processes.
  • Technical Tools: Prior experience using major Global Trade Management (GTM) software platforms such as e2open (Trade Express), SAP GTS, or similar screening and classification tools, google sheets, documents and other data analysis tools.
  • Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory texts. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills for working in a global team environment.
