Job purpose
To achieve optimal production from assigned drill rig/s through operation of drill rigs, supervision, and training of national employees

Key aims and objectives
-
Operate drilling machines in a safe and competent manner
-
Under the direction of the Drill Supervisor, conduct the successful drilling operations of the drill rig
-
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on drilling equipment
-
Performs preventative maintenance daily and assists when required with mechanical repairs
-
Recommend repairs and maintenance to rigs, and drilling and safety equipment
-
Record daily drilling data
-
Undertake duties as directed

Main responsibilities and duties
-
Proactively promote safety as the central theme of their actions whether engaged on site or off site
-
Proactively identify HSE hazards and implement effective risk management activities – e.g., Hazard / Near Miss Reporting, JSEA for new/special tasks
-
Progressively strive to develop skill levels pertaining to safety management practices and protocols
-
Report all incidents, including accidents and near misses
-
Responsible for the monitoring of conformance with pertinent HSE and legislative requirements and providing accurate, timely feedback to the management team
-
Undertake identified Compliance Activity Requirements within the allotted timeframes
-
Provide on the job training and mentoring of employees within their work section
-
Provide feedback to participants and management
-
Work with Trainers in the coordination and set-up of work schedules and on-the-job training sessions

Other duties
Leadership / management:

Collaborate with Drilling supervisors
-
Coach and guide young trainee drillers to achieve the professional development and experience in drilling
People:
-
Ensure the performance, development and overall wellbeing of resources deployed on the drilling programs.
Health and Safety:
-
Adhere to the Health and Safety requirements in each country of operation
-
Ensure the overall Health and Safety of employees in conjunction with the Allied Gold Corp Health and Safety specialists
-
Ensure the relevant workplace area is safe and without risk to health
-
Acquire and disseminate safety information appropriate to the needs of individuals on site so that they may work in a safe manner
-
Ensure that safe work practices and procedures are implemented and adhered to
-
Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential problems and hazards and when necessary, arrange assessment of potential hazards and institute control measures
-
Encourage the involvement of all employees’ in achieving a safe and healthy workplace, by arranging toolbox meetings and inviting input from people on matters relating to work processes as well as health and safety
-
Use personal protective equipment that is provided.

Individual Requirements

Must have completed high school grade.

Successfully complete pre-employment medical

Must be fit and able to perform the inherent requirements of the job

Ability and willingness to travel and work on a roster
Experience
-
At least 10 years' experience as a driller, including 05 years' international experience
Knowledge
-
Certificate III in Drilling and/or establish an acceptable level of competence via practical and/or written assessment

Must be able to read, write and speak English
Skills
-
Must be able to clearly demonstrate both practically and verbally a sound understanding of the relevant Drilling methodologies and solutions to issues which may impact on drilling operations

All aspects of multipurpose drill rigs, land-cruiser and truck mechanics and a basic understanding of hydraulics
Must have valid country of origin driving licence
