What is Expert Enterprise Risk Management?

This role supports the identification and monitoring of enterprise risks by maintaining the ERM platform, coordinating group-wide risk cycles, and ensuring data integrity, consistent methodologies, and timely reporting in line with VEON risk appetite and governance standards. Through structured analytics, emerging risk tracking, and standardized reporting, the position strengthens risk transparency and fosters a proactive risk awareness culture across VEON OpCos.

The role reports directly to the Group Head of Enterprise Risk Management at VEON.

What does Expert Enterprise Risk Management do?

  • ERM Platform & Process Administration: Run day-to-day ERM platform Administration (users, roles, permissions, workflows, templates, risk taxonomy). Set up and manage cycle timelines, tasks, reminders, and validations. Provide user support, maintain workflow SOPs, and perform routine QA on submissions and process compliance.
  • ERM Operations & Governance Cadence: Manage the ERM operating cadence, including calendars, meeting logistics, trackers, action logs, and follow-ups across five OpCos, including newly acquired entities. Produce regular status updates and escalate process delays to the Group Head ERM.
  • Quarterly Risk Assessment Coordination: Initiate the quarterly risk assessment cycle in the ERM platform, assign tasks to OpCo Risk Managers in Workstream, and oversee draft updates and submissions across OpCos and Group functions, including version control and deadline management with relevant POCs.
  • Emerging Risk Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain the Risk Events database in the ERM platform (logging, tagging, categorization, updates, closures). Ensure completeness and consistency through housekeeping and regular reviews with OpCos. Summarize key themes and notable changes for the Group.
  • Data Governance & Dashboard Integrity: Execute data validation and hygiene checks (completeness, duplicates, scoring, ownership, taxonomy alignment) in the ERM platform across various modules. Coordinate corrections with OpCo ERM and Group stakeholders and maintain audit trails and evidence repositories. Ensure dashboards and reports reflect the latest approved data.
  • Risk Analytics & Reporting Support: Build and maintain reporting packs and templates; compile heatmaps, registers, and management/ARC materials. Consolidate inputs, manage review comments, and track revisions through final sign-off. Support drafting of risk memos using platform data and standardized narratives.

Requirements

What are we looking for, and what does it require to be an Expert Enterprise Risk Management?

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Strong academic background with a relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIA, CA, MBA or equivalent)
  • At least 3–5+ years of experience, preferably in an enterprise risk role (associate/manager level) or in assurance functions such as internal/external audit, compliance, governance, and internal controls, with experience supporting risk frameworks and cross-functional risk processes.
  • Candidates with prior experience within a Big Four audit firm or equivalent professional services environment are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working in a complex, multinational organisation with global controls responsibilities

Soft skills and technical skills required

  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and strong communicationskills (written, verbal, and presentation), with the ability to operate effectively in a remote back-office HQ environment and maintain flexible working hours to accommodate OpCos across multiple time zones.
  • Understanding of the telecommunications, technology, and digital sectors will be a great advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and interest in Finance, Economics, Current Affairs, and Commercial Practices across various industries.
  • Working knowledge of automated Reporting & Analysis.
  • Cursory knowledge of ERM principles, risk frameworks (COSO/ISO), and operational risk practices is preferred
  • Operational decision making, Problem-Solving, and Data Analytical Skills.

  • Confident stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior and operational levels
