This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Exam Development Specialist III in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage the full lifecycle of certification and assessment exam development. You will ensure that exams are accurate, reliable, and aligned with established standards, while collaborating with internal teams and external volunteers to maintain high-quality item banks and assessment tools. The position requires balancing editorial precision, project management, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced, standards-driven environment. You will facilitate working groups, oversee item quality assurance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that impact the certification process. This role also provides the chance to work with evolving exam platforms and contribute to the strategic growth of certification programs. Attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to quality are central to success in this position.
Accountabilities:
· Manage the complete exam and item development lifecycle, including recruitment, training, and quality assurance for item writers and SMEs.
· Serve as primary exam development lead for assigned certifications, overseeing pre- and post-meeting QA, flagged item reviews, and job practice updates.
· Plan, facilitate, and document Certification Working Group and ad hoc meetings, managing agendas, volunteer communications, and follow-ups.
· Partner with Product Management, Content, and Credentialing teams to design, maintain, and update certification programs and ensure exams align with strategy.
· Support and maintain item banking and delivery platforms, conduct UAT, and provide system training and documentation.
· Monitor exam performance, candidate feedback, and credentialing metrics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
· Serve as departmental backup for programs and initiatives to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 4+ years of relevant experience in exam development, editorial work, meeting facilitation, or project management.
· Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to quality assurance.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Collaborative and inclusive approach to working with diverse stakeholders and volunteers.
· Technologically proficient and adaptable to evolving exam platforms and systems.
· Preferred: 6+ years of experience, certification exam development, volunteer engagement, knowledge of exam/item-level statistics, cross-cultural collaboration, and demonstrated business acumen.
