The primary responsibility of Portfolio Planning and Business Operations Lead is to work across all functions in Seeds organization and partner in co-creating our Seed R&D Strategy and long-term plans for Europe field crops, across all Crops, and all European geographies.

  • Drive the Portfolio Definition Cycle for Europe Region including Long term plans for germplasm and traits and technology across the region to delivery of Portfolio objectives, aligned to regional commercial strategy
  • Conduct portfolio and scenario analysis required to enable data driven decision making by regional and global leadership teams
  • Communicate linkages between the R&D portfolio teams, crop strategy and the Regional Strategy, keeping the purpose of portfolio strategy at the forefront of regional teams
  • Support feasibility and capacity planning through the PDC process
  • Collaborate with other Regions/Hubs/Sites to ensure correct translation of portfolio strategies into allocated resources
  • Ensure Portfolio Alignment with Financial Budgets.
  • Functional budgets build in partnership with Finance, along with Opex Management  
  • Facilitate the Opex Governance process and prioritization for the EUROPE Region, including timely escalations, monthly reporting and R&O management during MBR’s
  • Delivery on our portfolio targets with great transparency around risk and opportunities and ensure optimal deployment of resources.
  • Drive accuracy and transparency of financial controls to align demand/portfolio/business changes with budget and portfolio adjustments
  • Support global teams on Finance/Portfolio Audits
  • Drive unit costs definition, analysis and scenarios in partnership with finance.
  • Responsible to manage data in Portfolio Tools and partner with Global BOP for continuous improvements in Portfolio Planning space.
  • Ensure Timely escalation and Performance Updates through Monthly, Quarterly, End of Season and Annual reviews
  • Report portfolio variance and escalations
  • Be able to model portfolio data and scenarios according to business needs
  • Provide Oversight for Strategic Projects as defined by Regional LT
  • End to End responsibility to hold functions/Countries accountable for execution of aligned Strategy
  • Strengthen connection with various business partners and global functions

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • Master's degree in business administration, finance or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with resource planning and Financial management
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver critical business and R&D objectives, initiatives, and projects
  • Project and portfolio management competence to prioritize and deliver objectives in a complex, cross-functional, multi-site, and highly technical environment
  • Significant stakeholder management experience is a must
  • Proven ability to lead with purpose, clarity, and impact in a complex global matrix organization
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fit for purpose processes and tools
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders across regional and hierarchical boundaries, accross functions
  • Ability to rapidly build relationships with key internal partners to drive efficiency and reduce complexity in internal processes
  • Agile mindset to function in and respond to a rapidly changing business environment
  • Willingness to challenge status quo and take calculated risks to drive positive change, innovation and efficiency
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn in different situations critically and deliver solutions
