Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Estimator – Civil & Underground Utilities to support a fast-scaling civil construction business. This role will focus on civil utilities takeoffs and cost estimation, allowing the sales team to shift away from manual estimating and concentrate on closing work. The ideal candidate is a mid-level estimator who can work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and grow with the business long term.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare accurate civil utilities takeoffs for projects involving water, sewer, gas, electrical, and other underground services
  • Itemise materials
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to support pricing, bid preparation, and scope clarification
  • Maintain organised materials lists, quantities, and pricing data for repeat and future projects
  • Recommend and use appropriate estimating tools or software, with flexibility for manual or system-based workflows
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and commercial awareness across all estimates
  • Maintain pricing databases and standard materials lists


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in civil construction estimating, specifically within civil and underground utilities
  • Strong understanding of materials, quantities, and construction processes for underground services
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver to agreed timelines
  • High attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a scaling environment where processes are evolving
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership
