Position Summary
The Epic Application Manager oversees the support and development of a specific set of applications that are aligned to multiple business areas. These applications are critical to the success of UHN for delivering safe and effective patient care. The primary function of this role is to ensure that applications within this domain are managed and operated 24/7 with the highest degree possible in terms of performance, reliability and experience for end users. In addition, this role oversees the engagement with the business area served by each application and is an integral part of the dialogue with clinicians, nurses, and other business stakeholders to help shape changing requirements (regulated and non-regulated) in application configuration and development as well as quality of service. They are one of the primary escalation paths for incidents that may occur during operations in this environment and must manage high pressure situations in a manner that allows for safe effective resolution. The Epic Application Manager will oversee sub-teams within their groups that are led by subject matter experts in a particular area. The Epic Application Manager is additionally responsible for tracking budgets for their overall teams and maintaining a balanced bottom line at the end of year. The Epic Application Manager will need to have a solid understanding of how their teams operate within the context of their peers and the overall strategic mission of UHN. In order to satisfy all of the requirements in this role, the Epic Application Manager will need to be able to work independently and be able to deliver against the articulate an overall vision for how systems and services within their area can be improved within the constraints of available resources and the overall roadmap set forward by their supervisors and UHN leadership.
