About the role

Step into a pivotal role where safety meets innovation. As our new EHS Manager Netherlands, you will drive Environmental, Health, and Safety excellence at two premier Dutch locations: our Leiden Pilot Plant and our European HQ in Oegstgeest.

At our pilot plant in Leiden, we test new techniques and adhesives, simulating them for our plants across Europe. At our Head Office in Oegstgeest, we have approximately 400 employees in a modern office facility, along with a lab for developing new adhesives. You will be the hands-on leader strengthening our team and shaping our safety future, reporting directly to the EHS Director EMENA. Since both locations are close by, no traveling is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational EHS Management: Manage day-to-day safety operations for Oegstgeest and Leiden, implementing global corporate EHS/PSM programs and ensuring strict adherence to sustainability goals.
  • Risk Assessment & Control: Conduct thorough risk assessments, including those for CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic) substances, and implement robust control measures for chemical hazards and flammable liquids.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Dutch health and safety law (Arbowetgeving) and environmental regulations, maintaining a deep understanding of the full lifecycle of chemical management from handling to disposal.
  • Safety Systems & Technical Expertise: Apply expertise in ATEX zoning, equipment, and gas measuring techniques to maintain a safe environment in our labs and pilot plant.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide guidance on new environmental legislation and green chemistry practices, fostering a strong safety culture through coaching and feedback.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Technical or bachelor / university degree in Environment, Health and Safety or Chemical/Process Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep expertise in occupational EHS, industrial hygiene, and Dutch health and safety legislation (Arbowetgeving) within a manufacturing or lab environment.

Skills you need to succeed:

  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy, foster teamwork, and skillfully influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in both Dutch and English, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software systems.
