Overview
The Data Center Operations Administrator I is an entry level role that is responsible for deploying infrastructure, monitoring system health, and making repairs to servers in a Linux-based environment. The right person for this role will be someone comfortable being hands-on with hardware when necessary, and who brings a solid foundation of Linux understanding and experience.
Responsibilities
Monitor systems’ health
Perform acquisition & deployment
Rack and configure servers
Install and configure operating systems
Perform cabling
Install devices (switches, PDUs, etc.)
Perform server repair (physical/software layers)
Attend to problem escalation
Ship/receive equipment/RMAs
Perform data center inventory/asset tracking
Maintain a safe/clean work environment
Working knowledge of Linux operating system
Adept at conducting research into product- and service-related issues
Customer service skills an asset
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
Should be able to deliver creative and innovative thoughts and solutions
Work collaboratively and efficaciously as a team member
6 months -- 1 year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
