Overview

Are you a technical expert on the Navy's Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services (CANES) system with a passion for sharing your knowledge? Do you excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear, effective training materials that ensure fleet readiness? DLH is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician IV to serve as a resident CANES Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our dynamic training team. In this role, you will be the go-to technical expert, responsible for ensuring our curriculum is accurate, relevant, and directly supports the warfighter.

 Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for CANES systems to support the training team's development and delivery efforts.
  • Review, update, and maintain training curriculum, including lesson plans, trainee guides, and course slides to reflect the latest CANES system baselines and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and other technical experts to ensure the technical accuracy and instructional effectiveness of all training materials.
  • Assist with the delivery of instructor-led classroom and shipboard training for fleet personnel, providing expert-level knowledge and hands-on support.
  • Provide hands-on, practical troubleshooting and scenario-based instruction to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Analyze technical documentation, including system change documents and engineering drawings, to assess impacts on training and drive curriculum updates.
  • Support the design, preparation, and modification of engineering and training documents.

Qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, or Science; OR Formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; OR A four-year electronics apprentice program; OR A High School diploma or GED.
  • Constructing, troubleshooting, and adapting components, subunits, or standard equipment.
  • Conducting tests or experiments, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures.
  • Extracting, compiling, and analyzing a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, and lab reports, while identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies.
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials.
  • With an Associate's Degree/Formal Training: Five (5) years of practical experience.
  • With a High School Diploma/GED: Seven (7) years of practical experience.
  • Practical experience must include the design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience with TACNET, CANES, or other Navy C4I systems.
  • Must be Cybersecurity Work Force (CSWF) qualified within 9 months of starting.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance walking through the door
