Engineering Technician - Spring Lake, MI DISHER is partnering with a leading custom cable assembly and wire harness manufacturer, to add an Engineering Technician to their team to support the development, launch, and maintenance of wire harness production processes. This role will work closely with engineering to translate customer and design requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing methods by analyzing drawings and CAD data, conducting process capability studies, and participating in design of experiments. The technician will evaluate and recommend appropriate components, tooling, fixtures, and materials, while using ERP and spreadsheet tools to manage process data and changes.   • Review customer drawings and specifications to identify manufacturability concerns
  • Build prototypes and pilot runs to verify manufacturability and process efficiency
  • Develop production documentation, fixtures, and operating instructions for high-quality manufacturing
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure processes meet customer and internal requirements
  • Support the development of PPAP documentation (Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flows, part layouts, etc.)
  • Assist with ERP data management, including BOM creation, routing, and assembly item setup
  • Participate in process reviews, production hand-offs, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate with quality and purchasing to ensure compliance with ROHS/REACH and other environmental requirements
  • What will make you successful:
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in Electrical or Industrial Manufacturing/Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of engineering procedures, process capability studies (DOEs), and change control
  • Ability to analyze drawings and CAD data to determine design and manufacturing requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to recommend appropriate components, tooling, fixtures, and materials based on product requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel; experience with ERP systems (PLEX preferred)
  • Experience with wire harness industry standards and workmanship guidelines (WHMA/IPC 620) preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools preferred
  • Prior experience in NPI or prototype builds preferred
