Position Summary:

The Engineering Sales Representative HF (Hydroflo) is responsible for customer-facing activities related to the order acquisition process including proposal development, specification and scope review, pricing analysis, and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders.  They support the sales team and their customers, who are domestic and/or multi-national corporations that purchase pumps and parts. The customers include but are not limited to agricultural, industrial and water resource companies that are both private and government owned.

  • Improved processing time converting quotes to orders

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Sales, Operations, and other functional stakeholders to promote the best interests of the company.
  • Prepare on-time, high quality proposals based on specifications, market level pricing, factory costs, and sales strategy.
  • Assist in developing proposals for more complex engineered products.
  • Coordinate and manage sub-supplier requests, replacement parts and components, labor estimates and quotations related to aftermarket requests.
  • Review all customer-inquiry related documents while addressing all relevant technical and commercial requirements.
  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of pump applications and types, a clear understanding of pump affinity laws and how these relate to pumps and systems.
  • Lead all coordination efforts on applicable proposals while ensuring close collaboration and communication with all applicable stakeholders.
  • Manage and monitor the proposal throughout the entire bid cycle including updating and maintaining customer relationship management (CRM) system (Salesforce), while ensuring proposal hit rate is optimized.
  • Send a complete, clean proposal packet to Engineering in order to create submittal packet.
  • Creates work order and production instructions within an Order Transfer File for applicable business units for when a purchase order is awarded to the company.
  • Collaborates with other departments to keep customers updated regarding order status.
  • Provides customer service for any issues related to shipment discrepancies, quality, etc.
  • Coordinates technical support for installation, set-up, operational maintenance, troubleshooting and warranty returns.
  • Assigns case numbers in Salesforce to assist with management of technical issues and maintains communication with customer during this process.
  • Follow all current procedures and policies related to the order acquisition process
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; significant applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing or sales within vertical pump industry
  • Experience working with technical drawings and specifications a plus
  • Strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Problem solving mindset with mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience working in a team setting that values communication, participation and involvement of others
  • Occasional travel to conferences, other company locations, trade shows or customer sites

 

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology.  Verbal and auditory capability are required.  Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.

This position has no direct reports.
