Summary/Objective: The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of the organization’s highest-priority and highest-complexity engineering projects, including new product introduction, advanced development efforts, and key customer initiatives.
 
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
  • Own all aspects of project management for assigned projects. 
  • Drive day-to-day project execution by leading and coordinating cross-functional activities across multiple teams, functions, and geographic locations. 
  • Define project objectives, scope, and success criteria by reviewing proposals, requirements, and development plans in collaboration with engineering and management. 
  • Consult with management and stakeholders to determine project priority, and execution strategy. 
  • Develop detailed project schedules by sequencing activities, identifying dependencies, and calculating time and resource requirements. 
  • Maintain and control project schedules by coordinating activities, providing accountability, and identifying and resolving problems. 
  • Schedule, facilitate, and document project team meetings. 
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders. 
  • Provide accurate and timely information supporting quality decision making across and at multiple levels of the organization. 
  • Manage and continuously improve the processes related to release of project deliverables. 
  • Advise management of new developments which may impact schedule, costs, customer commitments, or cross-functional relationships. 
  • Administer project data, schedules, and reporting within the Samtec Project Tracking Software. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical or engineering projects, including complex, cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects with schedule and technical constraints 
  • Strong technical aptitude with background exposure to mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering disciplines. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands while maintaining alignment with organization priorities.  
  • Strong ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams in a matrix hub structure.  
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and drive mitigation. 
  • Strong technical, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail. 
  • Experience with project management tools and formal development or gate review processes. 
  •  Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs. 
     Education:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum.
    • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
