About the role

The Engineering Operations Director will be a strategic partner to Engineering leadership, ensuring the successful scaling and smooth operation of our rapidly growing India-based Engineering organization. This role will own regional operations, drive best practices in hiring and talent processes and organizational effectiveness, and be the primary point of contact for operational needs for the local Engineering team.

As the senior operations leader in India, this person will be responsible for embedding operational excellence locally while ensuring alignment with global frameworks, processes, and priorities.

In the role of Engineering Operations Director, you will report to the VP, Engineering Operations.

We are considering applicants for the location of Hyderabad, India. We work a hybrid schedule--3 days a week in office.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Operations & Alignment

Act as the primary Operations leader for the Engineering organization in Hyderabad, ensuring local needs are addressed while staying aligned with global standards and processes.
Partner with Engineering VPs, Technical Program Management, and People teams to operationalize strategy and support execution.
Drive the Engineering operating rhythm in India (reviews, planning cycles, metrics, business reporting).

Talent & Hiring Enablement

Partner with Talent Acquisition to scale recruiting and hiring operations, ensuring consistency, speed, and quality in processes.
Support headcount planning and tracking in partnership with Engineering and global Operations.
Help design and implement local best practices for onboarding and talent development in coordination with the People organization.

Organizational Effectiveness & Culture

Implement operational best practices to increase efficiency, reduce duplication, and enable Engineering leaders to focus on technical strategy and execution.
Partner with People to drive culture, engagement, and DEI initiatives locally.
Ensure smooth cross-time zone collaboration between India and US-based teams.

Reporting & Insights

Provide reporting on hiring, attrition, and organizational health to Engineering leadership and the VP of Operations.
Surface insights and recommendations to enable better decision-making at the local and global level.

About You

You have 15+ years of experience in Operations, Business Management, or related roles in a fast-scaling tech or engineering-driven environment.
You have a proven track record leading operational strategy and execution for large, distributed teams.
You have a strong understanding of Engineering org structures, processes, and rhythms.
You possess strong collaboration skills; able to partner across People, Legal, Talent Acquisition, Engineering leadership and other cross-functional teams within the organization.
You have excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to connect operational details to business strategy.
You are comfortable working across time zones in a global environment.
Experience scaling teams in India strongly preferred.

We create operational effectiveness, define and nurture organizational culture, and inform and communicate cross-functionally.
