Job Overview 

The Engineering Manager/Senior Engineering Manager – Product and Test Engineering leads and grows a battery engineering team responsible for customer-focused product development, technical delivery, and cross-functional execution. This role serves as a bridge between engineering, R&D, and operations, to ensure that Anthro products meet customer requirements and internal quality standards. The manager plays a central role in defining and executing the product roadmap, supporting stage gate processes, overseeing rigorous testing and shipment, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment. Strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and cross-functional coordination are critical for success. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own and coordinate customer-specific testing programs, collaborating with both government and private sector clients to meet technical specifications and timelines. 
  • Drive execution of new cell and electrolyte product development projects, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams from prototype through launch. 
  • Develop and execute design of experiments to support product optimization and fulfill customer deliverables
  • Oversee electrochemical and safety testing of battery cells for internal validation, fulfillment of customer requests, and outgoing quality control. 
  • Lead shipping processes for battery cells and electrolytes, including documentation, training, and packaging risk mitigation. 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team; support career growth and performance through regular 1:1s, feedback, and biannual reviews. 
  • Prepare clear technical documentation, summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders; contribute to customer and investor-facing materials. 
  • Partner with Sales to provide technical insights in customer meetings, proposals, and ongoing account support. 
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on ownership, technical rigor, and cross-functional success. 

Requirements

Required Qualifications 

  • B.S. in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field. 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in battery engineering, energy storage R&D, or product development. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading and growing technical teams in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong technical foundation in electrochemical testing, battery systems, or product engineering. 
  • Proven ability to interface with customers and present technical concepts to varied audiences. 
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving engineering, R&D, and operations. 
  • Familiarity with battery cyclers, safety testing tools, and lab instrumentation. 
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Notion, Trello). 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline. 
  • Experience in both early-stage R&D and product scale-up. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for battery shipment (e.g., UN 38.3). 
  • Background in customer-facing roles or sales engineering. 
  • Experience with polymers, polymer electrolytes, or lithium-ion battery electrolyte systems. 
  • Data analysis experience for experimental validation using python and JMP.
