Engineering Manager - Pricing & Promotion (m/f/d)
TLDR
Lead a cross-functional team within the new RevTech domain to build the technology stack that drives pricing and promotions, maximizing revenue through innovative systems.
As the Engineering Manager for Pricing & Promotion (m/f/d), you will be a founding leader within the RevTech domain. You'll lead a cross-functional team responsible for the mission-critical systems that determine our commercial success. Your team will own the logic for how items are priced, how retail media and promotions are orchestrated, and how product data flows through our organization to maximize revenue. You will work at the intersection of Commercial Strategy, Retail Media, and Core Engineering to build a world-class revenue engine.
Lead & Grow Engineers: Build a high-trust, high-performing team from the early stages. You’ll be responsible for hiring, onboarding, and performance management, ensuring every engineer has a clear career path and the tools to get 1% better every day;
Build the RevTech Foundation: As part of a new domain, you will help define the architecture for our commercial stack—from automated pricing engines to sophisticated retail media campaign managers;
Drive Commercial & Retail Excellence: Partner with Commercial leads to build tools that enable intelligent assortment selection per hub and real-time promotion management that delights customers while protecting margins;
Own the Commercial Data Flow: Ensure that product data and pricing updates flow seamlessly and accurately across the entire organization, from our supplier integrations to the customer’s checkout screen;
Guide Technical Direction: Lead architectural decisions and RFC discussions within the RevTech domain. Champion low-latency systems, data integrity, and pragmatic engineering that prioritizes our customers and commercial health;
Champion Reliability & Financial Precision: Set the gold standard for operational excellence. In RevTech, accuracy is everything—you will ensure our pricing and promo systems are resilient, observable, and 100% accurate;
Foster a "Builder" Culture: Create an environment where the best ideas win. As a new domain, you’ll foster a culture of ownership, supporting team members through the challenges of scaling new systems from 0 to 1;
Partner Across Flink: Collaborate with peer Engineering Managers in Data, Logistics, and Product to ensure RevTech integrates perfectly with the broader Flink ecosystem.
We’re looking for a leader who is excited by the "blank canvas" of a new domain. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about building the infrastructure that connects business strategy to technical execution.
Demonstrated people leadership with a track record of building and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth environment;
Direct experience with commercial or financial systems, such as pricing engines, promotional platforms, retail media tech, or inventory management;
Strong technical foundation in backend systems and API design, with a deep understanding of how to manage complex business logic at scale;
Experience with distributed systems and data pipelines, ensuring high availability and data consistency across multiple regions or hubs;
Strategic Mindset: You can translate high-level commercial goals (like "increasing retail media revenue") into a concrete technical roadmap;
Clear communication: You are comfortable bridging the gap between deep technical implementation and commercial business context.
Nice to have
Experience in Quick Commerce or Marketplace environments where localized assortment and pricing are key;
Knowledge of Retail Media technology and how to integrate third-party or internal advertising systems;
Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and Golang within a microservices architecture;
Background in Data-First Engineering: Familiarity with how ML models influence pricing or assortment decisions;
- Experience with AI tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to accelerate development in a new domain.
