Engineering Manager

We are seeking a passionate Software Engineering Manager who brings strong technical expertise, delivers with care, and operates with excellence. Creative, curious, and confident, you will be an integral member of empowered, self-managing, multidisciplinary teams—designing, building, releasing, and maintaining high-quality products. You will play a pivotal role in shaping a best-in-class engineering team, environment, and culture.

This is an initial six month contract and will sit outside IR35. You will be required onsite in London Paddington 3 days a week.

What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineering Manager, you’ll lead and grow high-performing engineering teams while delivering scalable, high-quality software. You will:

• Build, mentor, and manage a team of senior software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Own the planning and delivery of software initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and quality standards.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Programme teams to define scope, priorities, and outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership, setting engineering standards and guiding teams through complex technical challenges.
• Shape the technical roadmap alongside senior engineers and product leaders.
• Champion DevOps and operational excellence, with a strong “you build it, you run it” mindset.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and maintainability of both new and existing systems.

Who You Are

• An experienced, hands-on, polyglot senior engineer turned leader.
• Proven experience building and leading teams delivering scalable web or backend systems.
• Strong background in system design, software architecture, cloud platforms, and modern engineering practices.
• Comfortable balancing people leadership with technical decision-making.
