Grover Precision / Engineering Manager / Oxford, Maine
Grover Precision is seeking an Engineering Manager, to be based in the Oxford Office. The Engineering Manager is a key member of the Leadership Team. They are responsible for running the day-to-day technical aspects of manufacturing, longer-term project planning / execution, and setting strategic technical direction for the company.
Requirements of the Engineering Manager:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
10 years of engineering and management experience in the manufacturing field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent computer skills, including CAD and spreadsheet skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project management experience, including specification development, budget management, and time / delivery management.
Ability to read and understand designs / drawings for mechanical systems, electrical control systems, and P&IDs.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, like ISO 13485, AS 9100, or ISO 9001.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices and quality tools, including statistical methods and Standard Work / SOP development.
Familiarity with metallurgical principles (i.e. mechanical properties, heat treatments, tensile testing, and photo metallography). Particularly with medical and aerospace grade stainless steels and titanium.

Annual Pay $125K - $175K Depending on experience.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:
Daily management of the Engineering Team, including production support and projects.
Proposes necessary development and training actions to improve the skills of the team.
Develop the budget for the group, including staff use, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
Design, implement, and monitor team performance indicators.
Assist with customer interaction to resolve technical and quality issues, in collaboration with Quality and Sales Teams.
Work with the Sales Team in responding to customer quote requests (estimates) and information requests (capabilities, process collaboration).
Management of process time estimates and costs for customer requests for quotation.
Management of process planning and engineering for stable manufacturing processes.
Work with the Quality Team to communicate QA Inspection and reporting requirements and help troubleshoot QA Issues.
Work with Operations Team to provide job routings and tooling, project manage more complex jobs through the shop, including interaction with supervisors and machine operators.
Meet regularly with members of management to make sure priorities of the aligned with the company’s needs.
Plan and formulate Authorization For Expenditure (AFE) requests for projects, including projected costs, benefits and timeline.
Manage the documentation of company IP.
Work in collaboration with the Quality Manager, the Operations Manager, and the Sales Team in the development of new equipment, technologies and processes to improve the capabilities and profitability of the company.
Participate in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities.
