Your mission
We’re building Europe’s leading workplace intelligence platform. Following our
$23M Series B, we’re entering an exciting phase of rapid growth, and you’ll be joining at a pivotal moment in our journey.
As Engineering Manager for our Workplace Operations squad, you’ll play a key role in shaping essential parts of the deskbird product portfolio. Your role is intentionally balanced: approximately
50% focused on leading and developing your team, and
50% hands-on technical contribution.
You’ll empower your squad, strengthen delivery processes, and remain actively involved in designing and building high-impact features across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure.
In this role you will
- You’ll enable our customers to run their workplaces more efficiently, from visitor registration and management to catering requests for meetings and workplace maintenance workflows.
- You’ll lead and mentor a team of around five engineers, facilitating team rituals, driving continuous improvement, and conducting regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and growth conversations. You’ll partner closely with a dedicated Product Manager and Designer embedded in the squad.
- You’ll contribute full-stack solutions across our Angular frontend, Node.js backend, and GCP infrastructure, directly impacting over 150,000 monthly active users.
- Collaboration is central to the role, you’ll work cross-functionally with Product, UX, and other engineering squads to align on technical strategy and best practices.
- You’ll help drive how we leverage AI-powered code generation within the team, continuously refining processes and contributing to how deskbird’s broader Product & Engineering organisation evolves in this space.
What you need to be successful
- You bring 5+ years of experience in full-stack web application development, ideally working with Angular and Node.js.
- You have successfully led engineers and technical initiatives, whether as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or in a comparable leadership role, and are comfortable balancing people leadership with technical ownership.
- You have strong product and engineering judgment: you know when to move quickly with a prototype and when to invest in building scalable, long-term solutions.
- You’re an excellent communicator, fluent in English, and skilled at aligning technical decisions with diverse stakeholders across the organisation.
- You stay current with the latest advancements in AI-driven code generation and have hands-on experience using modern tools (such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar). Importantly, you leverage these tools without compromising code quality, maintainability, or architectural integrity.
Nice to have’s
- Experience designing and working with event-driven, distributed architectures.
- Hands-on experience with GCP and/or Firebase.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
