GoodShip is the first all-in-one platform for freight orchestration and procurement. Our innovative software helps shippers optimize their truckload freight spend and service outcomes while enhancing collaboration among internal teams and carrier partners.
The US domestic truckload freight market is massive – the industry generated revenues of $941 billion across 11.46 billion tons of product shipped in 2022. Our technology is optimizing freight outcomes for our customers, a rapidly growing roster which includes some of the industry’s largest and most recognizable shippers. Our software automates previously tedious and resource-intensive tasks and unites disparate data sources to provide a holistic view of network performance. We provide shippers with best-in-class intelligence, a purpose-built procurement workflow, and the tools to collaborate more effectively and initiate corrective action directly within the GoodShip platform.
We’re backed by A-list venture firms and founders of industry-leading FreightTech companies, and were recently recognized in the FreightWaves FreightTech 25 and the BCV × Headline Vertical SaaS 50. With ample financial backing and strong traction, we’re seeking a driven and experienced Engineering Manager to join us on the ground floor and help bring ultra-modern transportation technology to market.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Data & Infrastructure team — a hybrid group of software engineers and data analysts who build and operate the systems powering our customer data pipeline.
This team owns the backbone of how customer data flows through GoodShip:
Engineers build and scale the platform and pipelines that ensure reliability, automation, and observability.
Data analysts configure and validate those systems as we onboard new customers and maintain data integrity in production.
You’ll help the team balance competing priorities — shipping platform improvements, triaging data issues, and supporting internal requests — while building the systems and structure that allow them to scale with the company.
Manage a hybrid team spanning software and data work.
Prioritize and align engineering projects and data requests across teams.
Build lightweight processes for visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Strengthen data reliability and integrity to reinforce customer trust.
Own the GoodShip data pipeline, infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline, from an operational and strategic perspective.
Collaborate with other managers to shape engineering culture and standards.
Has managed teams combining software engineers and data specialists (e.g., analytics, BI, or data platform).
Is comfortable in both infrastructure and data domains — IaC, pipelines, observability, SQL, and data quality.
Brings clarity and structure, turning ambiguous work into measurable outcomes.
Focuses on operational leverage — scaling impact through tooling and automation.
Uses metrics to drive performance and reliability, not just reporting.
Communicates effectively across engineering, product, and customer teams.
Competitive salary and meaningful equity in GoodShip
100% employer-paid health benefits
Unlimited PTO
Winter break the week of December holidays
Fully remote work environment (Seattle-region preferred)
