Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.
Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.
Come help us bring modern software to modern science.
The Enterprise Lifecycle team is a newly formed engineering team dedicated to ensuring Benchling's largest customers—internationally recognizable names developing some of the world's most innovative treatments and cures—are successful in regulated environments. Our mission is to help them prove their products are safe for human consumption and navigate complex regulatory processes with confidence and efficiency. The team owns critical capabilities including auditing, document lifecycle management, exports, and backups. These are the foundational systems that ensure data integrity, compliance, and auditability across Benchling's platform.
As the engineering manager for this team, you will build and lead a team of eight engineers working on systems that enterprise customers depend on for regulatory submissions and audits. You will set technical direction, drive execution on a roadmap that balances new capabilities with platform reliability, and partner closely with product management and design to shape the future of Benchling's enterprise offerings. This role sits at the intersection of platform and product work: you will own horizontally impactful systems while directly enabling features that appear in FDA submissions and GxP-regulated workflows. You will also collaborate extensively with other engineering teams across the organization, as these systems touch nearly every part of the product.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineering manager who is energized by high-stakes, high-impact work where correctness and attention to detail matter. You will thrive here if you have a track record of building and leading strong engineering teams, enjoy navigating ambiguity on a newly formed team, and find satisfaction in solving complex problems for sophisticated enterprise users. Experience building enterprise SaaS software is a strong plus. If you are drawn to the challenge of building compliant, scalable systems that support some of the world's most important scientific work, we would love to hear from you.
We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
