Job Opportunity at 1Nebula:
The Engineering Executive is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall technical execution and delivery of all software engineering across the SaaS business unit. This role provides strategic direction for the engineering function, encompassing software development, DevOps, quality assurance, and service desk operations.
The Engineering Executive ensures that engineering teams are aligned with business objectives, product roadmaps, and technology strategies. They are accountable for engineering quality, team performance, delivery timelines, and the continuous improvement of engineering practices and culture. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive of Technology (CTO) but collaborates closely with the Product Manager, and other members of the executive team.
What You will do within this role (Your key responsibilities):

Strategic Engineering Leadership
- Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with business goals and the technology roadmap set by the CTO.
- Oversee and ensure delivery across all engineering teams including OneView, Stactize, Energiemissie, and the Analytics team.
- Drive engineering standards, best practices, and architectural decisions in collaboration with the CTO and Software Architects.
- Contribute to executive-level planning as a member of the 1Nebula Exco.

Team Management and Development
- Directly manage the Development Manager and DevOps Manager, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee capacity planning and resource allocation across development, DevOps, QA, and service desk teams.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent.

Delivery and Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent and predictable delivery of sprints, releases, and project milestones across all product teams.
- Establish and monitor engineering metrics (velocity, defect rates, deployment frequency, lead time) to drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, cloud operations, infrastructure automation, and production stability.
- Ensure the service desk operates effectively with appropriate SLAs and escalation procedures.

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Product Manager to ensure engineering priorities align with the product roadmap and backlog.
- Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales teams to support client-facing technical requirements.
- Work with the CTO on technology strategy, R&D initiatives, and innovation projects.
- Coordinate with BizOps and Compliance teams on operational and regulatory requirements.

Risk and Quality Management
- Establish and maintain quality assurance processes, including testing strategies and code review practices.
- Manage technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and production incident response.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/SOC2 standards from an engineering perspective.
More about You (Our requirements for the role):

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field (required)
- 15+ years software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior engineering leadership.
- Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams (Development, DevOps, QA, Service Desk).
- Demonstrated experience operating within a SaaS or product-based technology environment.
- Strong strategic capability and the ability to translate business objectives into engineering execution plans.
- Deep understanding of modern architecture, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, production stability).
- Experience driving engineering metrics and delivery performance (velocity, defect rates, deployment frequency, MTTR).
- Proven ability to build and sustain a high-performance engineering culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing technical risk, security, compliance (ISO/SOC2), and technical debt.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and the ablity to collaborate effectively with Product, Sales, Customer Success, BizOps, and Executive stakeholders.
- Strong commercial and operational acumen, including budget management, resource planning, and cloud cost optimisation.
