Role Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Director who embodies ownership, curiosity, and purpose. This leader will drive technical excellence while fostering a culture where engineers take initiative, learn relentlessly, and build with AI and scale in mind. The Engineering Director will lead multiple teams, define long-term technical vision, and ensure delivery of high-quality, customer-centric solutions. Partnering closely with Product, Design, and Operations, this role is critical to turning vision into execution while mentoring the next generation of engineering leaders.
Key Responsibilities

Shape Strategy with Purpose – Define and execute an engineering strategy aligned with company goals, blending innovation, scalability, and customer-first problem solving.

Champion Engineering Excellence – Apply modern design patterns and AI-first thinking to build scalable, maintainable, and secure systems.

Inspire and Grow Leaders – Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, architects, and senior engineers, foster ownership, accountability, and curiosity.

Own Delivery & Reliability – Ensure timely, high-quality delivery across teams, balancing new feature development with managing tech debt.

Drive Cross-Functional Impact – Collaborate with product and design leaders to build roadmaps that prioritize real customer problems over tech showcase.

Set Standards & Best Practices – Establish coding standards, review rigor, and continuous improvement frameworks to uphold “1% engineer” excellence.

Be a Strategic Partner – Act as a trusted technical advisor to company leadership, contributing to business strategy and innovation initiatives.

Build a Culture of Support – Encourage peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to strengthen engineering community and collaboration.

Foster Psychological Safety – Create an environment where engineers feel safe to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and innovate boldly.
Requirements

15+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.

Proven track record of leading high-performing, AI-first engineering teams in fast-paced product environments.

Strong background in scalable architecture, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).

Expertise in modern engineering practices (CI/CD, DevOps, microservices, event-driven systems).

Proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, Node.js).

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery with a balance of innovation and operational excellence.
