Design and develop high pressure systems for filling IFE targets, including safety protocols and performance evaluations for fueling the Inertia fusion power plant.
Overview:
We are seeking an Engineer to design and develop high pressure systems for filling inertial fusion energy (IFE) targets with deuterium tritium gas (DT). This will span prototypes to mass production systems where target throughput is at a few Hertz rate. Fill pressures in the range of two to three hundred atmospheres are expected. Mechanisms operating in this pressure environment are anticipated. The filling system will form a key component for fueling the Inertia fusion power plant.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and develop high pressure systems for filling IFE targets with DT gas.
Develop, implement, and document safety protocols, and standard operating procedures for the high-pressure filling system.
Develop tests to evaluate filling system performance and analyze test results.
Assist with other power plant pressure projects such as power conversion cycle.
Qualifications:
Required:
PhD or MS, or experience equivalent, in Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to design and develop complex high-pressure systems.
Familiarity with hazardous material safety protocols.
Strong analytical data/measurement skills.
Preferred:
Experience in the design, development, and operation of tritium systems.
Experience in the design and development of mechanical systems operating in high pressure, and automated movement of product into and out of a high pressure environment.
Experience with FMEA and reliability engineering.
Knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
Salary & Benefits:
The base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $200,000 The pay range provided is an estimated base range for this role. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.
We offer market-competitive compensation and an excellent benefits program, including Medical, Dental, and Vision plans, company-paid holidays, matching 401k, and more!
