Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Program Modeling Manager to join our growing team in Louisville, Colorado (or another Resource Innovations office location). We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated manager with a strong background in developing complex analytical decision-support tools to join our dynamic team. As an Energy Program Modeling Manager, you will develop, customize, operate, and maintain a variety of decision-support tools supporting market and economic analysis of energy efficiency, distributed energy resources (solar/storage/EVs), demand response, and related technologies. You will also manage small teams of consultants that develop model inputs, providing overall coordination, collaboration, quality control, and schedule/budget management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, operate, and maintain a variety of decision-support tools supporting market and economic analysis of energy efficiency, distributed energy resources (solar/storage/EVs), demand response, and related technologies.
  • Manage small teams of consultants that develop model inputs, providing overall coordination, collaboration, quality control, and schedule/budget management
  • Interact with clients and other stakeholders to present (written and oral) model methodology, inputs, assumptions, and results/insights.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that material aspects of technologies and markets are captured in existing or new models.
  • Provide extensive quality control of all model inputs and outputs – with responsibility and accountability for final model outputs and associated recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, engineering, or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 6+ years’ experience in energy-efficiency or a related field.
  • 2+ years of project management or team lead experience.
  • Proven success in developing complex analytical tools to facilitate decision support.
  • Experience developing, customizing, operating, or maintaining analytical tools involving consumer adoption theory (e.g., logit market share modeling), System Dynamics (stock/flow modeling), or economic analysis (e.g., benefit/cost testing) in the energy field. The broadest possible experience with various modeling methods and frameworks is sought, though it is recognized that viable candidates may not have all of the desired expertise.  
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to provide quality control of all model inputs and outputs, with proven ability to ensure model results are defensible and will withstand scrutiny by interested parties.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task while consistently meeting deadlines with accuracy and within budget.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

  • Master's degree in business, energy, engineering, or related field of study.
  • Experience developing analytical tools in Analytica, Excel, R, Python, or similar modeling frameworks. Strong preference will be given to those with prior experience with Analytica (www.analytica.com), though qualified candidates will have the aptitude and interest to develop these skills through on-the-job training.
  • Expertise in linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
  • Expertise in System Dynamics, including Bass diffusion and other constructs.
  • Expertise in random utility theory for consumer choice.
  • Expertise in the standard energy efficiency and other demand-side technology benefit/cost tests.
  • Expertise in Monte Carlo simulation.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position.  The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $85,000 - $140,000.  In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.  The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position.  Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location. 

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health, dental and vision insurance; and other supplemental benefits. 

Employment with Resource Innovations is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check and reference check. If applicable to the position, a pre-employment drug screen may also be required.
