Position Description: Energy Specialist/Auditor
As an energy specialist/auditor, you will be entrusted with pre-assessing homes for potential energy upgrade opportunities, program eligibility and/or deferral, and supporting client education conversations. This role will work directly with Portland residents to support their energy efficiency projects with a focus on customer service and satisfaction.
We are seeking an individual located in the NW region of Oregon or SW Washington, ideally in or around the Portland area.

Successful Candidates:
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and can build and sustain relationships with customers.

- Are skilled at handling multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring seamless execution.
- Demonstrate expertise and experience in residential construction ideally in home weatherization or HVAC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary home assessment including visual inspection for deferred maintenance (roof repair, moisture damage, mold or pests).
- Detail existing home conditions and opportunities for energy efficiency upgrades including insulation levels, existing heating and/or cooling systems, water heating and appliances.
- Conduct preliminary assessment of home exterior for potential green infrastructure elements using a checklist.
- Conduct preliminary assessment of roof for potential solar installation using software.
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to support referrals for large deferred maintenance projects.
- Manage tracking, reporting, communication for all projects with multiple partners.
- Conduct homeowner interviews to determine efficiency or comfort needs.
- Work with and build trusting relationships in diverse communities with a focus on underserved customer support.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Preferred minimum 3 years’ experience in utility, weatherization, HVAC, construction, sales and/or energy efficiency industries.
- Preferred experience with roofing or roof inspection.
- BPI BA-P or HERS rater preferred.

- Driving up to 3-4 hours on paved/unpaved roads.

- We are a fully remote telecommuting organization; therefore, you must have dependable transportation along with verifiable insurance.

- Evergreen will provide a computer (programs for the position included in the computer setup), two monitors, a monitor stand, speakers, a webcam, a docking station, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and a surge suppressor.
