POSITION SUMMARY: The Employment Specialist plays a key role in empowering newly arrived refugees as they begin building their lives and careers in the community. A central responsibility of this role is working closely with local employers to develop strong, ongoing partnerships that create meaningful employment pathways for clients. This position enrolls clients into employment services, prepares them for job opportunities through coaching and support, coordinates placements, conducts follow‑up to support long‑term success, maintains accurate documentation and data entry, contributes to grant reporting, and supports additional program needs as assigned.   Hybrid schedule: Mon-Thurs in office; Friday remote ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Client Engagement & Enrollment
  • Conduct initial employment orientations for refugees.
  • Enroll clients into the NC Refugee Support Services Program.
  • Assess clients’ skills, work history, and experience to develop individualized employment plans with reasonable goals and strategies that lead to successful employment.
  • Ensure services that strengthen clients’ motivation and capacity to become self‑supporting are delivered in a planned, effective, and timely manner.
  • Communicate employment‑related information, including orientation to “Working in America,” workplace norms, and employer expectations
  • Employer Partnership & Job Preparation
  • Work closely with local employers to build strong, ongoing partnerships that expand employment opportunities for clients.
  • Provide job counseling and assist clients in developing high‑quality resumes, applications, and interview skills.
  • Teach and/or coordinate the Vocational Skills Training Class and other employment‑related classes using a prepared curriculum.
  • Schedule clients for weekly Vocational Skills Training and arrange interpreters when needed.
  • Job Placement & Follow‑Up
  • Prepare clients for job placement by connecting them with appropriate employment opportunities that match their skills and goals.
  • Provide follow‑up, coaching, and case management to support clients after job placement, ensuring long‑term job retention and stability.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • The applicant must have a confident "salesman" attitude and ability to easily network.
  • Bilingual (spanish, arabic, swahili, dari)
