Loft Orbital's mission is to make space simple for organizations that need to collect information about the Earth. We provide space infrastructure as a service where multiple customer payloads are flown on a single spacecraft platform through Loft's in-house Payload Accommodation Module.
The Embedded Test Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust, reliable test pipeline embedded software within the Hardware group. You will work with Loft Orbital’s engineering, software, and integration teams to verify the performance of internal avionics hardware, firmware and software to improve design iteration and continuous integration efforts. You will help to define the processes and standards for version control and work closely with the engineering teams to ensure flight readiness for orbit. You will be a critical part of ensuring we are delivering the right high quality hardware products to both internal teams as well as our external customers.
About this Role:
Work with the Loft development team to test, validate and verify internally developed products, and ensure successful delivery of final flight products to missions
Software and firmware test development and automation at unit and sub-system level for flight systems (avionics, communication and power distribution)
Ownership of the test procedures and execution of product testing using Loft’s in-house software tools
Execute roadmaps of next generation products and provide testing flows, including activities to prepare for verification and qualification of product development efforts
Support scaling up test infrastructure towards productization
Define and implement functional testing and regression testing for embedded systems to support Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and assembly/integration teams
Must Haves:
5+ years in software/firmware testing and SW/HW integration, a plus if in aerospace
Bachelor’s Degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent
Recent Python experience automating tasks/test frameworks and interacting with shell environments
Strong familiarity with Linux and scripting tools/languages
Testing and troubleshooting experience with digital, analog and high-speed interfaces, including various communication protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, ETH, SpaceWire, etc.)
Hands on experience with deploying embedded software to hardware at medium to large scales (>100 units/year)
Have experience creating detailed Test Procedures for development and software
Entrepreneurial, need to be able to find and manage own work
Experience with one or more continuous integration tools (Gitlab Preferred

Experience testing high speed interfaces like Ethernet, Spacewire, Cameralink, PCIe
Understanding of how to create, configure, and manage Docker containers
Recent experience setting up Gitlab CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Vivado or other FPGA design/build systems and their test tools
Experience with Yocto Ptest or testing and deploying Yocto distributions
Comfortable interacting with remote test equipment and troubleshooting issues
