The Arene Software Engineering team develops and delivers the next generation in-vehicle software platform that can host applications ranging from automated driving to in-cabin experiences. The Application Framework is one of the main layers that make up Vehicle SDK, the in-vehicle embedded application platform for Software Defined Vehicle applications development. It’s a collection of distributed services that facilitate the development and execution of OEM applications, enabling OEM’s competitive advantage. We’d like to grow the team to create a foundation of the new generation of the Application Framework in collaboration with global partners. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for highly skilled engineers who: ・are excited to enhance in-vehicle user experience and vehicle application developer’s experience through enhancing our embedded application platform and SDK. ・actively take ownership of decisions, risks, work products, and relationships with collaborators or customers You will be required to: ・actively provide feedback to those around you ・accept feedback as part of your own continuous improvement process ・report to a function or sub-function lead within the team ・work in the office at least 3 days a week (can work from home up to 2 days a week) RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze requirements from stakeholders or potential future needs.
  • Design architecture, APIs, services and tools based on the requirements.
  • Implement, test, document and release Application Framework and Cockpit SDK for Arene’s customers.
  • Collaborate with other Arene teams and global partners, and evolve the whole Arene.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 years of hands-on experience developing embedded software using C/C++, including object-oriented design, debugging, and testing
  • Proficiency in developing software on Linux platforms
  • Experience with containers like docker, CI tools like Github Actions
  • Strong commitment to performance and quality, with a leadership mindset
  • Business level language proficiency in English, including the ability to read and write technical documents and communicate effectively with other engineers

  • NICE TO HAVES
  • Familiarity with real-time, distributed, and parallel computing
  • Hands-on experience using Bazel, Rust and Nix
  • Familiarity with automotive or embedded processor architectures, such as ARM and x86
  • Familiarity with QNX, Android Automotive OS
  • Proficiency in developing operating systems or device drivers
  • Understanding of vehicle software standards, including AUTOSAR, MISRA, CERT, and the ISO 26262 standard for automotive functional safety
  • Experience with the Yocto/BitBake build system
  • Experience in developing vehicle software with mixed criticality.
  • Experience in abstracting vehicle software architecture that span across multiple domains and generations.
  • Experience in developing safety-critical or hard real-time applications
  • Collaborative experience with Design, User Research, and Data Science teams, with a deep understanding of UX
  • Experience in AI assisted development
  • Business level language proficiency in Japanese, including the ability to read and write technical documents and communicate effectively with other engineers
