Elementary Math Tutor - Early Math Foundations

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Mateo, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in San Mateo, CA
• Schedule: 20 hours, 3 sessions a week for 1.5 hour sessions
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced in working with elementary students with developmental delays.
• Skilled in teaching foundational math concepts at the early elementary level.
• Patient, engaging, and structured, able to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Creative and adaptable, able to incorporate student interests into lessons.
• Capable of designing individualized lesson plans that promote academic growth and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide structured instruction in foundational math skills, including number recognition, counting, and place value.
• Break down concepts into manageable steps and use hands-on strategies to reinforce learning.
• Use visual supports, manipulatives, and interactive activities to promote understanding and retention.
• Implement consistent routines and positive reinforcement to support focus, engagement, and confidence.
• Incorporate the student’s interests, such as pretend play, arts and crafts, travel, and packing activities, to enhance motivation.
• Conduct an initial assessment to identify specific areas of need and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Monitor progress and adjust lessons to meet the student’s individual learning pace.
• Collaborate with caregivers to align tutoring with classroom expectations and IEP goals.
