Position Title: Electronics Engineer

Position Overview: The chosen candidate will join our cross-functional engineering team, working with mechanical and software disciplines to develop new products and support the continuous improvement of our existing product line. This is an in-office position at our SE Calgary facility with eligibility to work from home one day per week, dependent on specific project deadlines and ad-hoc requirements 

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Design of electrical systems for UAV and robotics 
  • Performing or directing integration and testing of sensors, actuators, and controllers 
  • Schematic design and PCB layouts 
  • Develop design verification and validation test plans 
  • In-depth troubleshooting of robotic and UAV systems 
  • Developing and maintaining process documentation and quality control procedures 
  • Work with mechanical and software teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical subsystems 
  • Potential travel, including internationally, to assist with projects 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • BSc. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering 
  • Previous experience in designing electronics 
  • Proficiency in soldering electronics assemblies (through-hole and surface mount) 
  • Experience with electronic lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, function generators, etc. 
  • PCB design experience (schematic and layout) 
  • Experience with wiring harness design and drafting 
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols (UART, CAN, RS485, SPI, etc.) 
  • Experience designing for EMC (preserving integrity of sensitive signals, minimizing radiated emissions, maximizing radiated immunity, etc.) 
  • Experience with BOM management and component sourcing 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Technical writing skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail 

 

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Experience with RF engineering, particularly wireless radios and antennas 
  • Experience with both analog and digital electronics 
  • Experience with Altium Designer 
  • Experience with battery powered robotic systems 
  • Experience designing power electronics and motor drive circuitry 
  • Experience with SolidWorks 
  • Experience with 3-phase AC systems 
  • Knowledge of power engineering related to transmission and distribution lines 
  • Micro soldering skills 
  • Keen interest in drones, robotics, and unmanned systems 

 

Estimated Position Start: January 2026 

Salary
CAD $75,000 – CAD $95,000 per year
