Lead the design and development of next-generation ground systems for autonomous drone logistics, focusing on hardware solutions that enhance operational scale and efficiency.
Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.
Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.
Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.
We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.
The Ground Systems team at Zipline is in charge of all the infrastructures on the ground supporting our autonomous delivery drones with docking, battery charging, thermal management, ground communication and preflight checks. This role is central to enable our next generation of drone logistics, solving complex challenges in power distribution, power conversion, battery charging, high performance microprocessor, high-speed network communication and system-level integration.
Zipline is seeking an electrical engineering leader to manage a high performing team of electrical hardware design for the Ground Systems team. This technical leader will guide and grow these teams as well as be able to own parts of the design directly as the team scales. You and your teams will be responsible for architecting and developing custom Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), integrated sensing and RF solutions, and complex industrial systems for our new and existing ground systems hardware and validating the solutions for volume scale. Our ground systems are flight and safety critical. They are installed worldwide, and Zipline will depend on this team to develop novel solutions that enable unprecedented scale and efficiency. Success will depend not only on technical innovation, but also on developing a deep understanding of the needs of our customers.
As an Electrical Engineering Manager at Zipline, you’ll be leading the development of the future of global autonomous logistics and delivery. You’ll lead and grow a team of empowered world class engineers with real accountability for real-world outcomes. This is a chance to make a global impact, design products for scale and improve the lives of millions through hardware that works every time.
If you’re excited by owning tough problems end to end in an ambiguous new industry, you belong here.
Zipline is redefining logistics with its instant delivery system that addresses urgent access challenges for a diverse range of customers, including governments and businesses. By leveraging advanced technology like robotics and autonomy, Zipline ensures equitable access to essential goods, whether it’s healthcare supplies in underserved regions or on-demand deliveries for major retailers. Their innovative approach not only enhances supply chain resilience but also promotes sustainability and reduces environmental impact.
